John Voris Founder of Authentic Systems Interviewed About College-Bound Students Who Are TOO Intelligent and Being Held Back From Massive Opportunities

John Voris recently sat down for an enlightening interview about how students have all the natural and essential capacities to live a happy and successful life if they are allowed to follow this innate drive because Unhappiness occurs when this natural drive is unreasonably restricted.

Voris pointed out that the curriculum from K to 12  is designed to teach and test what should reasonably be expected to be learned from students. This is why statistical averages within each grade are used as a criterion throughout researching and the designing of tests for the appropriate course material. This also means that while the material is designed to accommodate average student performance, those with an above-average IQ will not be challenged and often slip into boredom resulting in poor grades.

Brighter students often question the efficacy of what is being taught and the effectiveness of the teaching process. When these fail to meet their assessment of practical application interest again wanes resulting in poor grades.

Those with high IQs can spend a lifetime being ridiculed for thinking differently than the rest. Their interests are different from others, their motivations are different, their view of life can be different, and with this difference comes criticism from students and teachers. With being told directly or indirectly they are often wrong when feeling they are right, these bright students often become withdrawn and with very low self-esteem.

Regarding traditional personality assessments, John said: “I believe that the human mind has only one need; the perpetual need to express our Authentic Identity. The magic happens after learning what motivates your child; this aligns the two of you from a genetic level. Then you are able to better understand and come alongside them. Then and only then can you empower them to achieve their full potential.”
